When you travel on a city street, take a stroll on the sidewalk, or leave your garden waste at the curb for collection, you are benefiting from services provided by the City of Toccoa's Public Works Department. Simply put, Public Works employees make our city work by caring for our infrastructure and improving our surroundings.
The Public Works Department strives to operate, preserve, and enhance the city's physical infrastructure. The Department provides a variety of community services including the repair, rehabilitation and general upkeep of city streets, trees, sidewalks and city structures. Personnel also provide emergency support services throughout the City.
Curbside Debris Removal
The City of Toccoa Public Works Department uses a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system to locate, mark, categorize and schedule cost effective pickup of curbside debris. City workers are dispatched directly and only to the piles marked. No matter when debris is placed in front of a residence, it will be picked up the day after the garbage collection. This system reduces fuel consumption, wear and tear on equipment and the number of man hours required to complete pick-up routes.
