Toccoa Train Day

Toccoa, GA, May 2, 2022 – The railroad has been an important part of the history of Toccoa and to honor this history, the City of Toccoa will be celebrating Toccoa Train Day on May 7. Several events are planned for that day.

The first event of the day will be to welcome the Amtrak Crescent Line at 6:45 a.m. at the historic train depot. Visitors getting off the train will be welcomed with bags of information about Toccoa and then several will get on the train and ride it to Gainesville and hand out information to the riders. Everyone is invited to come and welcome the train. A drawing will be held for several give a ways.

The Northeast Georgia N Scale Model Railroad Club will have a train display in the Mitchell Allen Room at the Currahee Military Museum. The display will open from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. There is no entrance fee.

Children will be able to ride around downtown Toccoa on the “Toccoa Express” from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. The rides are free.

93.1FM and AM630 WNEG Radio will broadcast live as the train arrives. A drawing for several prizes including round trip tickets to Atlanta, will be held at the event. Attendees can register that morning at the depot.
