RE: City of Toccoa Accepts Check for Rural Redevelopment Check

TOCCOA, GA – November 7, 2022 – The City of Toccoa is pleased to report that, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, the city was honored with a check ceremony on the campus of Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia. Mr. Christopher Nunn, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, presented the check to City of Toccoa Commissioner Terry Carter in recognition of the City of Toccoa’s recent acquisition of Rural Downtown Redevelopment Grant Program funds.

Funds will be used to construct a greenspace and stage in the existing Tugalo Street Parking Lot in Historic Downtown Toccoa. “We are very thankful that DCA continues to be a valuable partner in downtown revitalization,” said Commissioner Carter. “Their investment in local revitalization efforts has and continues to substantially transform the business and cultural environment here in Downtown Toccoa”.

The City accepted bids in October 2022 for the architectural design of the project. Construction will begin in 2023.
