RE: City of Toccoa Redesignated as PlanFirst Community

TOCCOA, GA – December 9, 2021 – The City of Toccoa is pleased to report that it joins eight other communities in being redesignated as a PlanFirst Community for 2021, along with five new designees. This program is a partnership between the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), the Georgia Municipal Association, 12 regional commissions, and other organizations that recognizes communities that spearhead their comprehensive plan as a vision for the future with long-range goals and objectives for planning and zoning activities that affect the local government. The City of Toccoa was previously designated a PlanFirst Community in 2018.

Program awardees receive statewide public recognition and are eligible to apply for low-interest loans and receive technical assistance from the state.

“The PlanFirst Program is truly the linchpin of DCA’s planning efforts,” said DCA Commissioner Christopher Nunn. “I am particularly proud of this program and delighted to recognize five first-time designees and nine returning communities that have been redesignated. Earning this distinction demonstrates the communities’ ability to manifest the vision of its future,” he added.
