Wastewater

The Water and Wastewater Department provides safe, good quality, uninterrupted water at a reasonable pressure to meet health and fire protection needs of residents of Toccoa and Stephens County. The department operates and maintains the water system in accordance with the policies set by the city commission and the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Act.

For more information on the city's water services, visit our City Water page under the city services tab.

This department also provides wastewater treatment services. The wastewater that leaves your homes through sinks, showers, and toilets, flows through collection system lines to lift-stations. Each lift-station contains a pumping system which pumps the wastewater to the Wastewater Treatment Plant where it is treated. The City of Toccoa Wastewater Treatment Plant adheres to strict environmental policies, standards and limitations before releasing the treated effluent.

Toccoa's wastewater treatment plant uses physical, biological and chemical systems to treat wastewater.
